This article is the fourth in a monthly series spotlighting The Galleries at Sunset Center and the artists who create there. It continues to be the goal of The Galleries to bring ’s art community together, and keep people talking about the arts!
Deaver teaches pour painting with acrylics and enjoys watching others find a happy spot in this free and loose form of self and spiritual expression. She teaches these lessons one-on-one at her studio and has also taught a class at the community senior college. She won a ribbon in the Best of the Southwest Show, sponsored by the Fine Arts Association. You may also find her paintings in various fundraisers, including a yearly juried show at the Museum of Art. She has also been chosen as a featured artist at the annual juried Clarendon Art Show. She donates several paintings per year for various charities and to help keep the arts alive.

Most of Deaver’s current paintings are abstract acrylic pour paintings, in which she incorporates unusual additives, including products for cars and homes. She may use whatever she finds in her art closet - sometimes sand or glitter or crushed glass. She finds that fire can change the look of a piece dramatically
Deaver takes inspiration from her favorite artist, Georgia O’Keeffe. Her desire is to create paintings that impact the viewer with a smile, or a praise and a prayer, a laugh, a sweet memory, a tear of remembrance or a feeling we are not really all on our own in this life. Each painting is is created with the purpose of impressing upon the viewer the reality of their own divinity, and to point them to their own loving Creator.
Deaver resides in with her husband, Denny, and their two rescue dogs, Gabby and Bo. The couple enjoys family time, having a blended family of six children, twenty-five grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

Michael Longhofer earned a B.F.A. from The Laguna College of Art and Design and a masters of Fine Arts Degree from West Texas A&M University in painting and drawing. Longhofer executes commissioned work and teaches at Art Institute and travels the Panhandle leading workshops.
From 1994 to 2004 Longhofer worked as a commercial artist, graphic designer and art director while still making his fine art. He has shown and sold work in galleries in both California and Texas
Longhofer toured the fine art festival circuit from 2005 to 2007 and was invited to show at The Cottonwood Art Festival and The Fort Worth Main Street Festival. He started painting murals and commissions in 2007. He was a finalist thrice for the prestigious Hunting Art Prize, where he was invited to show in Houston.

Bailey's Art Gallery is family-owned and primarily represents the work of three family members: Beverly Bailey, Amanda Bailey, and Sheila Bailey Barnett
Amanda Bailey is an autistic, 32-year old, special needs adult. She began painting at the age of 12. An art teacher wanted to see what she would do if she put a paint brush in her hand and gave her instruction on painting techniques. She took off painting with an impressionist style and loves painting trees and landscapes. Amanda also works at ADVO and participates in Special Olympics.
Continuing The Legacy:
Her mother, Beverly, decided to take a few lessons herself while she was at class with Amanda. She realized that she too liked to paint. She enjoys painting florals, landscapes, dogs and cows. David and Beverly Bailey opened their gallery in 2016. Originally in a smaller studio space, they quickly out grew it and moved to their current space 37B. Beverly’s flair for art goes well beyond her paintings and into interior design as is showcased in her studio
After moving back to from New Mexico in 2017, Sheila Bailey Barnett began displaying her artwork in the gallery alongside her mother and sister. Her artwork consists of New Mexico landscapes and abstract pieces.
Becky Castleberry grew up on a ranch near Dalhart, where every aspect of ranch life became ingrained in her soul. She learned in a one-room schoolhouse to read and write and reach for the stars. For more than 30 years, she has been painting and piloting small aircraft. As a young mother, cooking and cleaning for three children, Becky started making a weekly 60-mile round-trips for art lessons, an experience she shared with her mother and sister.

"Draw what you know, ” she was told, and so she did, drawing her dapple-gray horse Charcoal every day for practice, running her hands across the muscles and veins until she understood them all. That one bit of advice led her to a sensitive and intuitive sculpting and painting process for horses and other western subjects that she continues to this day.
Castleberry’s works of art hang in private collections and galleries throughout Texas, Colorado and Arizona. She has pieces at the Bell Ranch in New Mexico and has exhibited by invitation at the George Phippen Western Art Show in Prescott, Arizona, and at the Cowgirl Hall of Fame. The Meredith Hunter Gallery in Santa Fe and the Horizon Gallery in Tucumcari have displayed her work. She showed with the prestigious Thunderbird Artists of Arizona in numerous cities in Colorado and Arizona for two years.
She has donated many pieces to the Artists for Arthritis Foundation, the American Cancer Society and Big Brothers/Big Sisters of . Those who are fed up with driving can utilize Amarillo's public transit system. While it is not a very large system, it does provide a consistent number of routes, and the city has committed to constructing a number of terminals to expand its capacity.
